The Bad Guys 2 Trailer Arrives: Meet The Bad Girls
DreamWorks Animation has been riding high of late, thanks to the critical and audience success of The Wild Robot. This comes in the wake of a run of hits over recent years which include Kung Fu Panda 4, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and The Bad Guys. The latter of which is getting a sequel, and the first trailer just dropped.
2022's The Bad Guys was based on the New York Times bestselling book series by Aaron Blabey. It featured a notorious gang of animal outlaws trying to go straight. The Bad Guys 2 sees them pulled out of retirement and forced to do one last job, by an all-female gang of criminals.
The sequel reunites the all-star cast and filmmakers.
Reprising their roles are Sam Rockwell as Mr Wolf, Marc Maron as Mr Snake, Craig Robinson as Mr Shark, Anthony Ramos as Mr. Piranha and Awkwafina as Ms Tarantula aka Webs. Also returning for the sequel are supporting cast members Zazie Beetz, Richard Ayoade, Alex Borstein and Lilly Singh.
Joining the cast as The Bad Girls are Danielle Brooks as Kitty Kat, Maria Bakalova as Pigtail and Natasha Lyonne as Doom.
Pierre Perifel is returning as director, and Damon Ross returns as producer. JP Sans, head of character animation on the first movie is stepping up as co-director on the sequel. Daniel Pemberton returns as composer.
The trailer starts with a daring heist in Egypt, before flashing forward five years later to the Bad Guys still trying to convince everyone that they have gone straight for real. Mr Wolf even tries to get a job at a bank. Enter the Bad Girls, who abduct the Bad Guys and force them into pulling off "one last job".
It's all looking very much in line with the first film, with fantastic character animation and full of manic energy. The sequel wasn't really on our radar at all, but now we've seen the first trailer, colour us excited. It's a thrill to see the Bad Guys back!
The Bad Guys 2 releases in cinemas in summer 2025.
