Star Wars Visions: Volume 3 Announced for 2025

Star Wars
seems to have been having something of a bumpy ride lately. Recent releases in the franchise have had decidedly mixed receptions. But one Star Wars release that has stood out like a shining beacon is the two volumes of Star Wars Visions. Now, LucasFilm and Disney have announced that a third volume of shorts is coming to Disney Plus in 2025.

The original series of Star Wars Visions debuted in 2021, with nine shorts produced by seven different anime studios. A second volume followed in 2023 and featured animation studios around the world including Japan, India, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Chile, France, South Africa, South Korea, and the United States.

The first volume was nominated for several awards, including a Primetime Emmy. The second volume went one better, winning an Emmy and two Annie Awards.

Now with Volume 3, Visions returns to its anime roots. The series will feature 9 new shorts from 9 different anime studios. The line-up features returning contributors Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co., Production I.G, and TRIGGER. Additionally, it will feature five studios new to the Star Wars Universe: ANIMA (in co-production with Kamikaze Douga), David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio.

Wit Studio are famous for their work on Attack On Titan, David Production produced JoJo's Bizarre Adventure,  ANIMA worked on Sand Land: The Series, Polygon Picture's work includes Pacific Rim: The Black and Project Studio Q's output includes Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time. And that's without even mentioning the returning studios- Trigger and Production I.G. are legends for a start. If previous volumes are anything to go on, and based on the names involved, we should be in for a real treat.

No more specific release date has been announced than sometime in 2025, so we'll have to keep an eye out for updates—hopefully, along with a first trailer!

Volumes one and two of Star Wars Visions are available streaming now on Disney Plus.
