Gaming News: Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, Yu-Gi-Oh!



It used to be that video games based on anime would typically only be released in Japan. These days the game spin-offs of the major franchises more often than not get a Western release. These include Naruto, One Piece and Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba. And of course the Daddy of them all- Dragon Ball Z.

The Dragon Ball franchise has a rich history in video gaming. It has spanned platform games and RPGs but most commonly of all fighting games. The upcoming game from Bandai Namco is one of the latter: Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is the latest entry in the Budokai series, 

A new character trailer has been released featuring characters from the iconic Buu Saga from the Dragon Ball Z TV series. The Buu Saga is the final arc of the original series and introduces the all-powerful character of  Majin Buu, who threatens the universe after having been sealed away for millions of years.

The latest Buu Saga Character trailer introduces  Super Buu (Gotenks Absorbed), Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed), and Kid Buu, as playable characters. Kid Buu is the original form of Majin Buu, known for his pure evil and immense destructive power. Super Buu (Gotenks Absorbed) is a fusion of Majin Buu and Gotenks, known for his incredible speed and power. Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed) is a powerful form created when Majin Buu absorbs Gohan.

Dragon Ball Spaking! Zero will release on October 11 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.


In other anime-related game news Konami have announced that Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters II: Dark Duel Stories, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories will be coming to Nintendo Switch and Steam as part of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection. The compendium will collect several of the Yu-Gi-Oh! games originally released in the late 90's and early 2000s. The release will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the original card game.Plus, physical copies of the Nintendo Switch version of the Collection will include one bonus card* of “Harpie's Feather Duster” with a never-before-seen printed level of rarity: Quarter Century Secret Rare.

Yu-Gi-Oh Early Days Collection includes original digital titles in the series released between 1998 and 2004. The complete line up of included titles will be revealed at a later date. The games have been optimised for modern play. They have been given quality of life updates to ensure that the games are elevated to modern standards.
