Dragon Ball Daima Streaming On Crunchyroll From October
There can't be a franchise in anime and manga more beloved than Dragon Ball. This was demonstrated by the outpouring of affection and respect that followed the untimely death of creator Akira Toriyama earlier this year. Following the conclusion of Dragon Ball Super and in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original publication of the Dragon Ball manga comes a brand new series. Dragon Ball Daima is a new original anime series based on a new story and characters created by Akira Toriyama.
The series will be available to stream on Crunchyroll from October 11 with subtitles in the United States, Canada, Latin America including Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Southeast Asia, with new episodes weekly following the Japanese broadcast. This rather begs the question what has happened to the UK and Ireland (and the rest of Europe for that matter) but then Toei Animation is a law unto itself.
In Dragon Ball Daima, due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned back into children. Sounds like a throwback to Dragon Ball GT. They travel into a new world, The Demon Realm. What sort of adventure awaits Goku, Supreme Kai, and the new characters Glorio and Panzy in this unknown world.
Dragon Ball Daima is directed by Yoshitaka Yashima (key animator, Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge) and Aya Komaki (series director, One Piece), with series composition and scenario by Yuko Kakihara and animation character design by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru.
The series features the opening song Jaka Jaan composed by Grammy Award-winning artist Zedd with support from C&K, the singer-songwriting duo of CLIEVY and KEEN, who also provided vocals. Lyrics come from Yukinojo Mori, best known for the Dragon Ball franchise songs CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA and Limit Break x Survivor. The ending theme Nakama is also performed by Zedd featuring AI.
The series was revealed to the world at a special Dragon Ball panel at last year's New York ComicCon. The new episodic series is designed to commemorate the birth of the worldwide Dragon Ball phenomenon. Akira Toriyama's original manga was first published in 1984 in Weekly Shonen Jump, and went on to sell 260 million copies worldwide and counting. It was adapted into anime first as the original Dragon Ball, then Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Kai and Dragon Ball Super, in addition to 21 feature films, numerous video games and mountains of merchandise.
