'Rick and Morty: The Anime' Trailer Released, Date Announced

Rick and Morty is coming back- but not like you've ever seen it before. Arriving before the release of the next regular season is Rick and Morty: The Anime. Directed by Takashi Sano (Tower Of God), the Japanese-made series takes our heroes on a brand new intergalactic adventure. The English language version is set to premiere on August 15 at midnight on Adult Swim, with the Japanese language version set to follow on August 17 at midnight as part of Adult Swim's Toonami block.

As previously announced the Rickmobile and Mortymobile will embark on an ANIME-rican tour to promote the anime. The vehicles will start at San Diego Comic-Con before going on to visiting other cities. It will give fans a chance to see the first episode before it airs and a chance to score exclusive merchandise and photo ops. The tour will come to an end in Atlanta, Georgia, Adult Swim's home city, and you can find all the other stops here.

"Takashi Sano, in addition to being a super-talented director, is also a huge Rick and Morty fan," said Michael Ouweleen, president, Adult Swim. "He’s the perfect person to give us all this alternate version of this amazing show. And the perfect way to launch this series is by doing our favorite thing – drive ridiculous vehicles around and come see all of you in person. Keep an eye out for our Rickmobile and Mortymobile as they cruise across the country and wrack up various toll tickets to celebrate the expansion of the ‘Rick and Morty’ universe."

In the 10-episode debut season, Rick relaxes in a pseudo-world that exists between multiverses. Summer helps Space Beth fight the Galactic Federation and Morty falls in love with a mysterious girl who happens to be an atemporial being.

The voice cast, both for Japanese and English versions are:

Rick – Youhei Tadano / Joe Daniels
Morty – Keisuke Chiba / Gabriel Regojo
Summer – Akiha Matsui / Donna Bella Litton
Jerry – Manabu Muraji / Joe Daniels
Beth – Takako Fuji / Patricia Duran

Rick and Morty: The Anime will be available to stream on Max and to purchase on major digital platforms the day after their broadcast on Adult Swim. The Japanese encore screenings will follow on Saturday nights at midnight. UK screening has not yet been confirmed, but if it follows its parent show, it should be streaming on Channel 4 before too long.

The series is written and directed by Takashi Sano and is produced for Adult Swim by Sola Entertainment. Jason Demarco and Joseph Chou will serve as executive producers.
