Suicide Squad Isekai Release Details Revealed
Anime fans will likely be very familiar with the isekai genre. It is a sub-genre of fantasy where a character (or characters) is transported from their own world to another world. The subgenre has become hugely popular over the past few years, particularly in anime, manga and light novels. Popular titles include Overlord, El Hazard, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, and Sword Art Online.
Perhaps the last series you would expect to go Isekai is DC Comics's Suicide Squad but it's happened. Warner Bros. Japan has made Suicide Squad Isekai. Featuring villains turned anti-heroes Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Clayface, Peacemaker and King Shark who have been 'recruited' by Amanda Waller for a mission too dangerous for anyone else to take on. The squad are sent through a gate to another world- a world of swords and sorcery, where Orcs rampage and dragons rule the sky.
Quickly captured by local forces, they manage to come to an agreement with Queen Aldora. She will grant them their freedom, if they defeat her enemy, the Imperial Army. But they only have 72 hours until the bombs Waller implanted in their necks explode, so the clock is ticking.
Suicide Squad Iseaki is directed by Eri Osada, based on a screenplay by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara. Character Draft Design is by Akira Amano and character design is by Naoto Hosoda. Music is by Kenichiro Suehiro. Animation production is by Wit Studio (Attack on Titan Season 1) and production is by Warner Bros. Japan.
