The Second Best Hospital In The Galaxy Opens This February
Prime Video seems to be upping their game when it comes to adult animation in 2024. Following the success of Invincible and Critical Role: The Legend Of Vox Machina, new series Hazbin Hotel will launch in January. Now Prime Video has announced the premiere date of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy (previously known as The Hospital). All eight episodes will debut on February 23, 2024, and will be available in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
The Second Best Hospital In The Galaxy comes from creator Cirocco Dunlap (Russian Doll, Waffles + Mochi), and Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens and Natasha Lyonne’s Animal Pictures. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and animation is produced by Titmouse Studios.
Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once) has joined the cast as Dr. Sleech, alongside previously announced cast members Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne, Keke Palmer, Kieran Culkin, and Sam Smith.
The series follows Dr Sleech and Dr Klak, alien best friends and intergalactically renowned surgeons as they tackle the likes of tackle anxiety-eating parasites, illegal time loops, and deep-space STIs. In season one, they take on a highly dangerous and ground-breaking case that may put existence itself in peril. But considering the state of their personal lives, oblivion might be an improvement.
Cirocco Dunlap also serves as showrunner, writer and Executive Producer, along with fellow EPs Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens and Natasha Lyonne. Shauna McGarry. Shannon Prynoski, Chris Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina from Titmouse will executive produce. Artist and animator Robin Eisenberg will co-produce and serve as production designer. Anne Lane, Shauna McGarry, Joanna Bradley, Kirsten King and Asha Michelle Wilson are credited as writers.
