NYCC: Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Invincible Season 2 and More Trailers

New York Comic Con is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the geeky calendar. Many of the biggest names in entertainment attend- and that of course includes producers and distributors of animation. One traditional element is the unveiling of trailers, many of which those of us who weren't fortunate enough to be able to attend can now view online. We've rounded up the must-watch trailers from this year's NYCC.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off

Get your best look yet at Science Saru and Netflix's anime adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's cult graphic novel. Reuniting the cast from Edgar Wright's 2010 live-action adaptation, the animated version promises to be even more faithful. Based on this trailer, this series will bring us some spectacular animation and capture the spirit of the comics perfectly.

Invincible Season 2

Fan favourite adult super-hero series Invincible is back for a second series from November 3. Mark (aka Invincible) is left reeling from his father- (aka Omni-Man)'s betrayal. He is left trying to rebuild his life while dealing with a host of new threats.

Ghosts Of Ruin

Set in a world where gamers can plug into an incredibly realistic gaming experience via "Neural Reality". It follows a group of gamers who enter the first neural reality Battle Royale only to encounter a dangerous virus. This seems an awful lot like a Western take on a genre that has been extremely popular in anime this past decade or so.

Blue Eyed Samurai

Charting the adventures of a mixed-race swordswoman as she embarks on a roaring rampage of revenge across Japan, this new series is a Western take on samurai fiction. It comes from Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049) and Amber Noizumi.

Dragon Ball DAIMA

In 2024, to mark the 40th Anniversary of The Dragon Ball franchise, a new series begins. Based on the Original Work, story and character designs of Akira Toriyama. It tells a story "never told before" in Dragonball... and that story seems to be Dragon Ball's equivalent of Muppet Babies, with much of the regular cast transformed into younger versions of themselves.
