Netflix Drop 01 Previews Their Animated Slate
Despite some recent high-profile cancellations and controversies, Netflix remains one of the biggest investors in animation- for family and adult audiences. This week they held their first ever Drop 01, dedicated to celebrating the best in genre animated series.
The stream was led by the premiere of the first three episodes of Castlevania: Nocturne, the new Castlevania spin-off. The showcase also featured surprise announcements and never seen before 'drops' from the most eagerly awaited animated series.
Devil May Cry
From Castlevania producer Adi Shankar comes another series based on a Capcom video game.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix:
This 'remix' based on the video game Blood Dragon is set to arrive on October 19. Joining the previously announced cast are Caroline Ford as The Warden, David Menkin as Rayman, Courtney Mae-Briggs as Jade, Glenn Wrage as Pay’J, and Daniel York Loh as Pagan Min. With music by Oscillian.
Blue Eyed Samurai
Watch the teaser for this visually stunning and provocative cinematic series that" will immerse you in a world of vivid adult animation with a live-action edge." Set in Edo period Japan, it features a mixed race samurai Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine). A master of the sword, she lives her life in disguise as she seeks the deliverance of revenge.
Masters Of The Universe: Revolution
See He-Man battle Scareglow in this extract from the second season of Kevin Smith's adult aimed reinvention of the beloved 80s cartoon. The season will stream in 2024.
