Annecy Competition Winners Announced
As the Annecy International Animation Festival drew to a close this past weekend it was time for the handing out the awards. Annecy's awards (called 'Cristals') are among the most prestigious on the festival circuit. With that said, merely making the festival's selection in the first place is considered a major honour.
This year over 3,400 films were submitted from around a hundred countries. A record of over 15,600 #attendees took part in this year's festival.
The prestigious Cristal For A Feature Film was awarded to Chicken For Linda, the new feature from Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach. The film also won the Gan Foundation Award for distribution. The Jury Award went to Four Souls Of Coyote and the Paul Grimault Award went to The Tunnel to Summer, The Exit Of Goodbyes. Sirocco and the Kingdom of Air Streams took home the audience award. Robot Dreams picked up the Contrechamps Grand Prix and Tony, Shelly and The Magic Light was awarded the Contrechamps Jury Prize.
In short films the Jury Prize went to Drijf, The Alexeïeff – Parker prize went to Eeva. Our Uniform was awarded the Jean-Luc Xiberras Award for a First Film, and Is Heaven Blue? #2 won the Off Limits Awards.
In the TV and Commissioned Films category, the Cristal For A Commissioned Film was awarded to November Ultra "Come Into My Arms". The Jury Award For A Commissioned Film went to The Beatles "I'm Only Sleeping". The Cristal For A TV Production went to Pebble Hill. The First Jury Prize for TV was awarded to Shape Island "Square's Big Prank" and The second Jury Prize For TV to Scavenger's Reign "The Wall."
The Cristal For A Graduation Film was awarded to La Notte. Havnesjefen took the Juried Award For A Graduation Film, and the Lotte Reiniger Award went to Mano.
In the VR category, The Cristal For Best VR Work went to Red tail
