Anime Limited Tease Evangelion 3.0+1.01: Thrice Upon A Time, Macross Plus and More


This past Bank Holiday weekend saw the May edition of MCM London Comic Con. And among the companies in attendance was Anime Limited, anime fans' best friend in the UK and Ireland. At their industry panel they announced details about their upcoming theatrical releases, home video releases and music releases.

Newly announced for a UK theatrical debut is  EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 THRICE UPON A TIME. Hideaki Anno's fourth and final part of the Rebuild Of Evangelion franchise will be coming to the big screen in the UK for the first time (having originally debuted on Amazon Prime). The film series reimagines Anno's groundbreaking 1995 TV series (with a considerably larger budget) and Thrice Upon A Time brings the saga to a close.



Anime Limited also announced the UK and Irish theatrical release of Macross Plus: Movie Edition. Part of the iconic Super Dimension Fortress Macross franchise, this will be gracing the big screen in the UK and Ireland for the first time in nearly 30 years. Created by BIGWEST and Studio Nue, with Shoji Kawamori (Escaflowne) as chief director, the film also marks the directorial debut of Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) and his first collaboration with composer Yoko Kanno. 

They also spoke about the previously announced The Tunnel to Summer, The Exit of Goodbyes, coming to cinemas on July 14 and The First Slam Dunk which it was announced would come to cinemas in the UK and Ireland on August 30.



Meanwhile, in home entertainment, Anime Limited announced the disc debut of Wit Studio's grifter comedy The Great Pretender, which the company will also be releasing to fans in the US and Canada. Also new on home entertainment is the highly successful One Piece: Film Red. Hideaki Anno and Gainax's sci-fi epic Gunbuster will also make its debut on Blu-Ray.

The legendary gentleman thief returns in the upcoming Lupin the 3rd Part 6, which sees Lupin and his cohorts headed for London. The original movie trilogy of Mobile Suit Gundam will be getting a release on 4K UHD, while Gundam Build Fighters comes to Blu-Ray. All these tiles will get Anime Limited's trademark Collector's Edition treatment.

Additionally, Anime Limited also announced vinyl and CD Releases for the soundtrack albums for Suzume, Little Witch Academia, Spy x Family, and Godzilla Singular Point.
