Between Lines
Made by an all-woman team made up of talented artists from around the world,
Between Lines explores the effects of school-girl bullying. Using
memorable imagery and a distinctive visual style this is an impressive piece
of work. The film is directed by Sarah Beth Morgan.
Grand Theft Loco: Tommy 2 Trains
Thomas The Tank Engine like you've never seen before. Those scoundrels at
Mashed have reimagined the beloved children's character as a dangerous
criminal. Accompanied by a hip-hop soundtrack (written and performed by
Kevin Bennett), you'll never see Thomas and his friends in quite the
same way again.
Love Is In The Air | Simon's Cat
Simon's Cat's efforts to woo the object of his affections don't go entirely to
plan in this new valentine's special. This series has been going for over a
decade and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. And it's every bit as cute,
funny and brilliantly observed as it's always been.
The Bridge
This affecting short features a lonely New Yorker who finds an unexpected
soulmate in the form of a stray dog. Accompanied by the classic
Lou Reed track Perfect Day, this is made to promote the charity
Paws NY who are dedicated
to "helping people by helping pets."
The Spark
There's something slightly reminiscent of Spider-Verse in this short from Zheeshee Studio. A young boxer named Will takes on his biggest fight and imagines himself in the shoes of his ancestors. The short is intended as a trailer, with the filmmakers planning on working on something longer. Based on what we see here we would definitely be interested in seeing what they can do on a bigger canvas.
To Protect and Serve | Dan Bull
Don't let the animation style fool you, there's a very serious subject matter to this music video from British rapper Dan Bull. Made in protest against the ongoing problem of police brutality, it's a righteously angry piece of work. The animation is produced by Lil Saucy Knuckles.
