'Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba' Season 3, 'Jujutsu Kaisen' Season 2 Announced
It's been a bittersweet time for fans of Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba as the long-awaited Entertainment District Arc has come to its conclusion. The end of the season was accompanied by some exciting news, however with the announcement that the series will continue in the Swordsmith Village Arc.
Considering the immense popularity of the franchise- which began with Koyoharu Gotoge's manga- it's no surprise the show is returning. The news came much quicker this time around- it was quite some time after the conclusion of the first season that the Entertainment District Arc was finally announced. The series will again be directed by Haruo Sotozaki, with character designs courtesy of Akira Matsushima and music coming from Yuki Kajiura. Animation is produced by ufotable.
The record-breaking movie spin-off Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba ~ The Movie: Mugen Train was released between seasons, which was also subsequently adapted into the seven-episode Mugen Train Arc, incorporating new footage and bridging the two series. The Mugen Train and Entertainment District Arcs are together considered to make up the 18 episode second season.
We don't yet know how many episodes the Swordsmith Arc will run for, or indeed when the season will air. Considering the announcement came so quickly and standard anime production timeframes, it would not be unreasonable to expect the season next year. If the production of season three began as soon as season two was completed, could we even see it air around the same time this year that season two kicked off (October)?
All seasons of Demon Slayer and the movie are available to stream now on both Funimation and Crunchyroll.
This news comes hot on the heels of the confirmation of another of the big anime of the moment returning for another season.
