Netflix Teases 'Disenchantment' Part IV In New Trailer and Images

Disenchantment, Matt Groening's third animated series is notable for a number of reasons. Firstly, its new territory creatively for hum, a fantasy comedy as opposed to The Simpsons family sitcom or Futurama's sci-fi comedy. Secondly, it is his first series to be aimed specifically at an adult, rather than a general audience. Thirdly, made in association with Netflix, it was his first series made for streaming.

With these three things combined, it meant that Disenchantment could attempt a kind of storytelling that could never have been attempted in his earlier series The series started off with mostly stand-alone adventures, but gradually the first season established serialised storytelling, with an ongoing storyline that has been told across the series so far. And while it is definitely a comedy, the series is fully committed to the fantasy elements as well.

We haven't seen Princess Bean, Elfo or demon Luci for quite some time, with the last set of episodes released in January of 2021. The wait is nearly over, as Netflix has been teasing Part IV which is due to arrive for subscribers from Wednesday, February 9.

The streamer has released a brand new trailer and first look images from the upcoming episodes, which are set to pick up where the third part left off.

Part III really began to expand the world of the series beyond Beanie's homeland of Dreamland and explored the technically advanced world of Steamland and elsewhere, as well as featuring plenty of Game Of Thrones-style machinations and plotting and potential romance for Beanie with a mermaid.

The mystery of Dreamland’s origins - and the stakes for its future - become ever clearer as our trio - and King Zøg - find themselves on personal journeys that will ultimately tie in to the kingdom’s fate. Separated at the end of Part III, our heroes race to reunite in this sweeping series of ten episodes. They’ll find themselves everywhere from the depths of Hell to the clouds of Heaven and everywhere in between, including Ogreland, Steamland, underwater, monasteries, insane asylums, the Enchanted Forest, the Dreamscape and more. All the while, puzzle pieces both canonical and personal will reveal themselves to eager fans.

Disenchantment is created and developed by Matt Groening and Josh Weinstein, with episodes written by both Simpsons or Futurama alumni or newcomers including Bill Oakely, David X Cohen, Ben Ward (Dangermouse), Michael Saikin, Jeff Rowe (Gravity Falls, The Mitchells Vs The Machines) Shion Takeuchi (Inside Job) , Liz Suggs, Jameel Saleem Jeny Battem and More. The voice cast is lead by Abi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre, and also features John DiMaggio, Billy West, Tress MacNeille, Maurice Le Marche and Phil LaMarr. It also features supporting roles from some of the top talent in the UK and Ireland including Matt Berry, Richard Ayoade, Sharon Horgan, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.
