GKIDS Films Releases Debut English Dub Trailer For 'Belle',
Regular readers will know we have been closely following Mamoru Hosoda's latest feature Belle. The follow up to his Oscar-nominated Mirai has screened at festivals including Cannes, Venice, Animation Is Film and London Film Festival and opened in its native Japan. Its English-language release is fast approaching, with GKIDS Films releasing the film in the US and Canada in early January.
Ahead of that release, GKIDS has debuted a brand new trailer, the first to reveal the English dub. The distributor has once again teamed up with their regular dub studio NYAV Post, who have been responsible for the English versions of several of their releases.
The dub will feature the voices of Chase Crawford (The Boys, Gossip Girl) Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria). In the lead role of teenager Suzu and her virtual idol alter-ego, Belle will be newcomer Kylie McNeill. McNeill has also recorded English language versions of the songs from the original soundtrack, which was produced by NYAV Post and GKIDS, with supervision by the original soundtrack team. The English soundtrack will be released on Milan Records on January 14. The Japanese soundtrack is available now.
Belle will open in cinemas in the US and Canada from January 14, 2022 and will screen in both dubbed and original language versions. IMAX previews will be offered in select locations from January 12. Tickets are on sale now. Anime Limited will release the film in the UK and Ireland in early 2022, the exact date to be confirmed.

Suzu is a shy, everyday high school student living in a rural village. For years, she has only been a shadow of herself. But when she enters “U”, a massive virtual world, she escapes into her online persona as Belle, a gorgeous and globally-beloved singer. One day, her concert is interrupted by a monstrous creature chased by vigilantes. As their hunt escalates, Suzu embarks on an emotional and epic quest to uncover the identity of this mysterious “beast” and to discover her true self in a world where you can be anyone.
