ANNY Animator Interview with Julie Rembauville
Animator Interview #27 featuring Independent Animator Julie Rembauville
Evan Vernon interviews Julie Rembauville, director of SMALL SPARK. Winner of the 2011 SACD Prize and the CANAL +/FOLIMAGE/ NFB Prize at the Annecy Festival Project Competition for the screenplay of MERCI MON CHIEN, Julie Rembauville completed her studies with a DESS Lettres Modernes Spécialisées in Audiovisual at the University of Sorbonne-Paris IV. While she is a student she creates projects of books for children and animated films with Nicolas Bianco-Levrin. In 2003 they published the album JE NE ME LAISSERAI PAS FAIRE ! (Ed :Les Portes du monde). A few others will follow, including LES MOTS (Ed : Lirabelle) which accompanies the animated film [R] produced by the G.R.E.C in 2011.
Throughout the films, notably KROAK produced by Sacrebleu productions, Julie is interested in sound, writing and production. This curiosity led her to the Gobelins in 2013, where she followed the "sound design" training for several months.
Alternating with more spontaneous projects that has immediate realizations within an associative framework, Julie works on with longer writings projects, notably MOUVEMENT PERPETUEL, a dive into mixed techniques in her grandfather’s colonial childhood and a serie project for the youth LES FABLES DE SACHA. Her film SMALL SPARK was recently selected as a Winner in the Animation Nights New York 5th ANNY Best of Fest in 2021.
