Disney Plus The Proud Family Revival: Louder and Prouder Reveals Cast
The Proud Family was one of the most groundbreaking animated series of the early noughties. Created by Disney animator Bruce W Smith, it was one of the first animated series to star a largely African-American cast. It focused on the Proud Family and their friends and neighbours, and built up a dedicated audience as it aired for 52 episodes and a concluding TV movie on The Disney Channel between 2001 and 2005.
As the series celebrates its 20th Anniversary, Disney Plus have released casting details of the revival of the series that was first announced back in 2020.
The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will pick up the story of its lead character Penny Proud and her eccentric family- Parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe and grandma Suga Mama, as well as her trusty friends including Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez and Zoey Howzer.
Returning cast members include Kyla Pratt as Penny, Tommy Davidson as Oscar, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy, JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama, Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer, and Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez.

The new series is being executive produced by original duo Bruce W Smith and Ralph Farquhar, with Calvin Brown Jr on board as co-executive producer and story editor, Jan Hirota as producer and Eastwood Wong as Art Director. The series is currently in production at Disney Television Animation and is expected to air in 2022.
In honour of the show's anniversary, Disney also released a video featuring both original and new cast members talking about just what the series meant to them.
