Collector's Edition and Standard Blu-Ray Edition Evangelion Now Available To Pre-order
It's a pretty good time to be a fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Not only did the fourth part of the rebuild movie series recently arrive on Amazon Prime (accompanied by the first three films), but the long-awaited Ultimate Edition of the original 1995 TV series and its 1997 feature films was finally revealed.
The limited-edition extensive deluxe edition was unveiled by GKIDS Films (US and Canada) and Anime Limited (UK and Ireland) earlier this month. Anime Limited announced that the UK version sold out of its initial allocation within 24 hours, but they were able to secure additional units for release in January. GKIDS have also sold out of the ultimate edition. The Ultimate Edition will also be available in Australia and New Zealand in the future via Madman (details tbc).
If you were unable to snag one in time, or if that over $200 price was out of your price range, it has now been confirmed that a less pricey (but still pretty fancy) Limited Collector's Edition and a standard Blu-Ray Collection will also be released, along with a digital download-to-own edition. All versions will include the original 26 episodes and two original movies Death and Rebirth and The End Of Evangelion, and all the disc editions will include more than five hours of bonus features.
The Collector's Edition will come in a rigid case housing 11 discs and come with 8 art cards and a 40-page booklet, and will also include the 'classic version' featuring the original AD Vision dub as a bonus. The standard edition will be five discs and will only include the Studio Khara-approved dub that was produced for the series Netflix release last year and the original language version.
The Digital version will be released first in the US on November 2, with the standard Blu-Ray arriving November 8 and the Collector's edition on December 8. Both standard and collector's editions arrive in the UK on December 6- there is currently no digital release listed for the UK.
