They may not quite have the same glitz and glamour as the Primetime Emmys, but recognition from the Daytime Emmys is still a great honour for anyone in the animation industry. This past weekend saw The Daytime Emmy Awards Children’s Programming and Animation ceremony take place online, with a third ceremony on Monday. The event recognised industry professionals in numerous different aspects of the animation industry. Not only directing and writing but also casting, editing and more.
The winners were spread out fairly evenly, without any one company dominating proceedings too heavily. Nickelodeon's The Adventures Of Paddington was a double winner, triumphing in the Outstanding Preschool Program and Outstanding Writing In Preschool categories. The series is co-produced by the company responsible for the rightfully acclaimed Paddington movies Studio Canal, with the film's star Ben Wishaw reprising the roles of the beloved British bear. The series is produced at London's Blue Zoo studio.
Apple scored their first wins, with victories for Here We Are: Notes For Living On Planet Earth and Stillwater. Disney racked up awards for Elena Of Avalor (Casting, preschool performer for Mark Hammil), Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against The Universe (Outstanding writing) and Clone Wars (sound mixing and sound editing). Warner Bros and Hulu won four gongs for the revived Animaniacs, making it the most successful series overall. Other WarnerMedia winners included Boomerang's Tom and Jerry Show and Cartoon Network's Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart.
Ultimately Netflix came out on top, with the most number of wins overall. Go! Go! Cory Carlson and Hilda both won multiple awards, while DreamWorks series Tales Of Arcadia: Wizards, Dragons Rescue Riders and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous won one each.
