Out This Week: Millennium Actress, Castle Of Cagliostro, Batman: Soul Of The Dragon and More
Among this week's new releases, two of Japanese animation's best-regarded
films arrive on 4K, one on each side of the pond. UK readers can pick up Anime
Limited's special collector's edition of Satoshi Kon's 2001 feature
Millennium Actress, including both the 4K and Blu-Ray versions (a
standard Blu-Ray version is also available). Stateside collectors can add to
their collection Discotek's 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition 4K of
Hayao Miyazaki's feature debut The Castle Of Cagliostro. The
pair are joined by the usual selection of anime, plus in the USA the latest
Batman animation and in the UK the twisted double-feature of Japanese
'Geki-mation' filmmaker Ujicha. The latter is produced not using
traditional animation but by combining paper puppets manipulated in real-time
with in-camera effects to memorable effect- but the content of the films themselves is not for the faint of heart.
