Annecy 2020 WIP Sessions Include Masaaki Yuasa, Genndy Tartakovsky and More

Next month, for the first time ever, you'll be able to experience the Annecy International Animation Festival wherever you are in the world. The disappointment of the cancelling of this year's physical event is tempered by the fact that this year, the global celebration of animation will be more accessible than it has ever been before. Earlier this week, the announcement of the competition line-up was completed with the revealing of the 2020 Feature Selection. Following this up, Annecy has now announced this year's work-in-progress and feature line-up.

The selection includes features, series and VR/XR experiences. Work In Progress presentations will include the new features from festival favourites Masaaki Yuasa, Anca Damian and Signe Baumane. Genndy Tartakovsky will host a peek behind the scenes of Primal, in a recording of his in-person presentation from 2019 and cult video game adaptation The Cuphead Show will reveal a first look.

China's Ji Zhao will host a WIP of the upcoming sequel to Ne Zha, the middle kingdom's highest-grossing animated film of all time. Tony Bancroft and Scott Christian Sava will host a making-of presentation of the long missing-in-action Animal Crackers, which is now bound for Netflix.

The festival will run from June 15-20. General passes will go on sale soon for €15 (approximately $16.50 /£13.50) through the website.
