Anime Limited Announce 'Cloud Matsuri' Online Event
It's been positively inspiring to see how many in the animation community have been adapting to unprecedented times to carry on and keep people's spirits up. Many festivals and conventions which would have taken place during the lockdown have moved to virtual online events. And some completley new ones have sprung up to take the place of their physical equivilents.
UK based anime distributor Anime Limited normally attends various events throughout the year, most notably the MCM ComicCon events in London and other UK cities. They have now announced that to replace this summer's events they will hold the first edition of Cloud Matsuri, an online anime convention. Fans, not only from around the UK, but also from around the world, will be able to 'attend', which is one thing virtual events have over their real-world equivilents.
The event will stream using YouTube live for free on May 30 and 31, and will feature special guests who will take place in interviews and talks. Although more are to be comfirmed later, the initial line up of guests is:
- Eunyoung Choi CEO and Executive producer at Science Saru
- Eiji Inomoto President and founder, Studio Orange
- Shuzo Shiota President Polygon Pictures
- Yasuhiro Kamimura CEO Groundworks Inc.
Anime Limited is partnering for the event with Crunchyroll, Manga Entertainment UK, video game publisher Koei Tecmo Europe Limited and merchandising firm Atsuko.
There will be special offers as well as accompanying online cosplay masquerade and a virtual artist alley, showcasing the best of the fan community.
Cloud Matsuri will run both days from 2:00 to 10:00 PM (BST) [ 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM (EST) 6:00 AM- 2:00 PM (PST)] at CloudMatsuri.com. The Saturday stream will be followed by Loud Matsuri, described as a 'quarantainment party' "where you can chill out, listen to some great music and wrap-up Saturday night in interactive style."
A full schedule will be revealed closer to the event.
