'Sound! Euphonium: The Movie' Comes To US Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital
Kyoto Animation have rightly earned a reputation as producing some of the most beautiful 2D animation you'll find anywhere. This has won them many fans around the world. The outpouring of love and support for them that happened following last year's tragedy is testament to that.
One of their most popular series is Sound! Euphonium a high-school slice-of-life drama following the members of a concert band. Based on a novel series by Ayano Takeda, the series consists of two seasons (so far) aired in 2015 and 2016. The feature film spin-off Liz and The Blue Bird, directed by A Silent Voice's Naoko Yamada was released in 2018. A second theatrical outing Sound! Euphonium The Movie: Our Promise: A Brand New Day was released in Japan in April 2019.
Following a Fathom Events Screening last year, Eleven Arts Anime Studio and Shout Factory have announced a US release for the film. It will debut on Digital Download on May 19, before being released as a Blu-Ray and DVD Combo Pack on June 2. Bonus features will include interviews with the English voice cast, including Christian La Monte (who also directs the dub), Laura Post and Xanthe Huynh.
