AFA UK: LAIKA Retrospective, LIAF 2019, Studio Ghibli and More
Welcome back to AFA UK, our regular round-up of what's going on animation wise in the United Kingdom.
London's Picturehouse Central will host an all-day LAIKA retrospective on Sunday December 8. The event will feature screenings of Coraline, Paranorman, The Boxtrolls, Kubo and The Two Strings and Missing Link. Missing Link and Paranorman will be accompanied by Q&A with director Chris Butler, and there will be a lobby display featuring puppets and sets from their films. Tickets are on sale here.
London International Animation Festival runs this year from November 29-December 8. It will feature a full line-up including several programs of shorts from the UK and around the world, panels and features Away, On-Gaku: Our Sound, Memento Stella and Potamkin. More details here.
Manga Entertainment have added a number of new titles to their early 2019 line-up. Anime feature I Want To Eat Your Pancreas and the complete Code Geass (seasons 1 & 2) will be available on January 27. One Punch Man (season 1 plus 6 OAVs) is released January 13. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure will be released across three sets, with Phantom Blood/ Battle Tendency and Stardust Crusaders Part 1 hitting on January 13, and Stardust Crusaders Part 2 following on February 17.
Amazon UK are running a Black Friday Special on Studio Ghibli titles on Blu-Ray and DVD, with titles such as Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away down to £12.02.
