Scotland Loves Anime Screens 'Promare', 'Weathering With You' 'Ride Your Wave' and More
Scotland Loves Anime, the leading festival of Japanese animation in the UK will celebrate its tenth anniversary when it returns later this year. And it will celebrate the occasion by screening some of the most eagerly anticipated new anime films and bringing back some of the most popular films from years past.
One of the biggest films at the festival will definitely be Trigger's first feature Promare which will be receiving its UK premiere at the festival. It will also be given a special event screening on October 19 at The Biscuit Factory in Edinburgh that will feature a special themed location, food and drinks. The film's director Hiroyuki Imaishi will be in attendance for a Q&A session after the film, alongside the film's creative producer Hiromi Wayabayashi and character designer Shigeto Koyama.
Makoto Shinkai's Weathering With You will also get its UK premiere at SLA ahead of a general UK and Ireland release in 2020. Masaaki Yuasa's latest Ride Your Wave and Studio 4℃'s Children Of The Sea will also premiere. As will Keiichi Hara's Birthday Wonderland (Aka The Wonderland), sci-fi drama The Relative Worlds and Polygon Pictures's cyberpunk thriller Human Lost. TV spin-offs Pysycho-Pass: Sinners Of The System and Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution: Anemone close out this year's premieres. Also screening is Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Resurrection.
The 10th anniversary line-up brings back audience favourites from past years: A Silent Voice, The Case Of Hana and Alice, Patema Inverted, The Life of Budori Gusukou and cult classic Redline (which made its debut at the very first festival). Sure to be a hot ticket as always, a mystery film will also screen- and it's confirmed to be "at least" a UK premiere.
The Glasgow leg of the festival will run from Friday, October 11 to Sunday 13. The Edinburgh leg runs from Monday, October 14 to October 21.
