Cardiff Animation Festival Returns April 2020
Cardiff Animation Festival, from the team behind Cardiff Animation Nights, last took place in 2018 and featured an exciting selection of screenings, masterclasses and events. It included a total of 99 films in competition, including 51% directed by female filmmakers. The winners were selected by a jury of respected industry professionals, including award winning filmmaker Rhiannon Evans, Aardman Animation director Will Becher, and British Animation Awards director Helen Brunsdon.
The festival will return on April 2-5, 2020, once again taking place at Cardiff's arts venue Chapter. Submissions are now open, running until Friday, December 6. There's an exclusive early-bird discount that will be available for entries submitted up to Friday, October 6.
The categories are International Animated Short, Animated Student Shorts and Micro-Animated Shorts (running at two minutes or less). Early bird rates start at just $1-$2. So be sure to submit your film early if you want to take advantage.
The first festival had a really strong line-up, featuring filmmakers from Isle Of Dogs, The Breadwinner and Aardman Animation as well as an exclusive exhibition from Chuck Steel Night of The Trampires. We can't wait to see what they arrange for next year's fest!
