Genndy Tartakovsky's 'Primal' Announced, 'Rick and Morty' S4 Dated
Genndy Tartakovsky is one of the most singular talents working in animation. Sony's successful Hotel Transylvania trilogy has kept him busy for the past few years, but now he's headed back to the small screen for something completely different.
Tartakovsky is re-teaming with Adult Swim (following the fifth season of Samurai Jack) for the prehistoric action series Primal. The series follows a caveman who forms a bond with a dinosaur as they struggle to survive in a hostile world. The trailer suggests this is going to be a dark and violent series, closest in tone to Samurai Jack than any of the director's other work.
The series represents a rare foray into action for the network's original programming, which perhaps represents their faith in Tartakovsky. He's definitley more than proved his action chops- not only with five seasons of Samurai Jack, but also The Clone Wars animated shorts and Sym-Bionic Titan
Primal is due to air on Adult Swim this autumn, but there will be a work-in-progress presentation at next month's Annecy festival in France.
Meanwhile, the network's most notorious duo are also set to return to our screens later this year- Rick and Morty Season 4 finally has an air date... or air month at least. As confirmed in the video below, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland's series will be back on Adult Swim some time in November- just over two years since season three wrapped. The series will screen in the UK on E4 and on the Adult Swim channel on All4.
