Reunion | Overwatch Animated Short

Blizzard's Overwatch character shorts have been a regular here on Web Animation Watch, and with good reason.  Each short has been consistently excellent and worth watching even if you have absolutely no interest in the game it is promoting. This latest introduces new character Ash the badass cowgirl and has a western flavour- complete with 10-gallon hats, shootouts and... robots. Because why not?

K/DA Pop Stars

Another video game tie-in, another fantastic piece of work. This promotion for the popular League Of Legends is a music video featuring a K-Pop track featuring a virtual girl-band made out of characters from the game. None of that really matters though, as you don't need to know any of that to know this is quite simply an incredible piece of animation with some stunning visuals. The blend of 2D style and 3D character models here is some of the best we've seen yet.

Bound

Another film from this year's crop from the prestigious Gobelins school in Paris, Bound revolves around two young brothers in a shanty town. The CGI animation makes impressive use of colour to create a really impressive atmosphere and creates a distinctive world. Directed by Lesego Vorster, Pierre-Yves Vauzelle, Diego Torrez, Venkatram Viswanathan and Kirill Blumenkrants.

Bee and Puppycat  | Season 1

With the release of episode 10, the full first season on Natasha Allegri's wonderful and weird Bee and Puppycat is now available in full on YouTube. Previously available exclusively to Kickstarter backers, or via the US-only VRV platform, the quirky series can now be enjoyed by audiences around the world. See the full series here.

No Way Out

This (mainly) 2D animation short was almost entirely produced by one man. Rafael G Moheno acted as writer, director, animator, clean-up,  background artist, sound mixer and art design on the film. With a fun classicly cartoonish style and a clever twist in the tale, it packs a lot of punch into its sub-two-minute runtime.
