Eleven Arts Announce 'Haikara-San: Here Comes Miss Modern Part 2' December Release
Earlier this year Eleven Arts Anime Studio brought Haikara-San: Here Comes Miss Modern Part 1 to US Cinemas. The film is an adaptation of a popular 70's shojo manga that has previously been adapted for live-action films and an anime TV series. Set in early 20th Century Japan, it follows the headstrong young woman Benio Hanamura as she finds herself in an unwanted arranged marriage with a dashing lieutenant. The new version spans two movies and will see the manga's true climax animated for the first time. Eleven Arts previously announced that the second half would be released sometime later this year, but had not yet revealed the exact date.
The distributor has now confirmed that Haikara-San: Here Comes Miss Modern Part 2 will arrive in select US cinemas on December 7. It will screen in Japanese language with English subtitles.
The film is directed by Seimei Kidokoro (assistant director on Fireworks) based on the manga by Waki Yamato.
The initial list of venues screening the film is below. See the film's website to get your tickets or more details.

Synopsis
In turn of the 20th Century Japan, a period characterized by widespread innovation and social restructuring, Benio Hanamura endeavors to take modernization to new heights. With a tomboy nature, Benio rails against traditional ideas that women should take care of the home—serving their husbands rather than pursuing their own dreams. Her values as a modern woman come under fire as the one man who supports her independence, Lieutenant Shinobu Ijuin, goes missing in action. Resurfacing back in Japan, Shinobu has lost all memory of his true identity. In this stunning sequel, will Benio be able to reconnect with Shinobu before she is married off to a new man?
