Fantoche Festival Returns September 4-9
The Fantoche International Animation Film Festival returns to Baden, Switzerland for a 16th year on September 4-9, 2018. It will encompass 185 events across 14 venues, spanning the full spectrum of the animation world. It will include an international competition, features, shorts, VR experiences and more.
This year's program includes a focus on Latvian animation and 'Document Sexy' a focus on erotic themed animation curated by Eliška Děcká, that includes infamous feature Belladonna Of Sadness and a selection of shorts.
73 shorts will screen In total across three programs. 22 of them are from Switzerland.
The Features screening include The Breadwinner, Your Name, Mutafukaz, Big Fish And Begonia, Captain Morten and The Spider Queen and more. Isle of Dogs will screen along with a presentation of the making of the film with Kim Keukeleire (Lead Animator) & Roy Bell (Art Department – Head of Painting). 21 features will screen in total, many will be Swiss premieres.
Beyond the screenings, there will also be exhibitions, workshops, an Industry day and a new Swiss Industry Night. The award ceremony will take place on September 9 at 6 pm at TRAFO in Baden.

Every year, an artist is asked to produce an animation based on the year's festival logo: this year's is produced by Geneva-based artist Sophie Laskar-Haller.
