You might find that this short and sweet student animation's Pacific setting might bring back fond memories of Moana. Featuring a young boy on a lush tropical island, it boasts some wonderful character animation and backgrounds. Directed by Luca Doran at Hertfordshire University, in the UK.

Warbringers: Jaina
We have featured work by games studio Blizzard numerous times, thanks to their excellent Overwatch short films. This new short is made to promote a new expansion to their hugely popular MMORPG World Of Warcraft. You don't need to know or care about WOW to appreciate this, however. This is very different from the Overwatch shorts, opting for beautiful hand-drawn animation over high-end CGI. The animation itself is fairly limited, but the visuals are absolutely gorgeous and this combines with the music and voice acting to create an incredibly atmospheric piece. More please, Blizzard!
Cuphead Cartoon Rap Battle
Still on the subject of video games, this new release from Mashed is inspired by the indie hit Cuphead. The original game is one of the most talked about games from an animation point-of-view for some time. This impressively recreates the game's style, and sets it to a music track provided by Rokit Gaming. Animated by Rizatch and Yellow Pyromaniac.World Cup 2018 by Process Moving Image
Process Moving Image created an incredible 27 short abstract animations that were released before every match during the World Cup. They were released on Instagram during the tournament, and now that the competition is over (congratulations France!) they have been edited into this short accompanied by music created by Rival Consoles. Statue Man: Part 1
From The League Of Taste and Class Corp this new animated short features the struggles of a human statue- a familiar sight on British streets. This short takes an unexpected turn.. and then it takes another! This is intended to be the first part of three... we're looking forward to seeing where it goes next.

Rocket Adrift, the series about three struggling artists in Toronto, returns with a new episode. In this episode, the trio are making plans to go see the latest blockbuster movie. As always, the writing is excellent, but this time it turns in to a sharp commentary on the current online film discourse and current movie trends. Movie fans will love this one.
