Leeds Young Film Festival Features 'The Breadwinner' 'Isle Of Dogs' And More
Every spring the Leeds Young Film Festival highlights the best in films for young people and their families. This always includes an impressive line-up of animated content- and we're glad to say that this year is no exception.
The festival kicks off with a UK premiere gala screening- complete with director Q & A- of the new stop-motion feature Moomins And The Winter Wonderland. There will also be the chance for festival audiences to get to see Nora Twomey's wonderful The Breadwinner and Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert's The Big Bad Fox And Other Tales ahead of their UK releases. Wes Anderson's Isle Of Dogs will also screen, followed by a Q&A with storyboard artist Jay Clarke. Clarke will also host the Isle Of Dogs Children's Storyboard Workshop.
The feature selection also includes a number of recent favourites and all-time classics, including Early Man, Coco, Moana, Lu Over The Wall, Loving Vincent and My Neighbour Totoro.
The festival will also feature a preview of The Amazing World Of Gumball from Cartoon Network, a number of animated short programs, plus a number of animated workshops for children to get their first experience of animating. There are also several VR events including a chance to give the Coco VR experience a try.
Also taking place is the Young Animator of The Year awards, a new competition which will award the best animation produced by young filmmakers aged 14 and under.
Leeds Young Film festival will run between March 26 and April 5 at venues across the city. Tickets are now on sale- check out the full schedule here.
