Production I.G And Netflix's Anime 'B: The Beginning' English Trailer Arrives
2018 is the year that Netflix's considerable investment in anime is starting to bear fruit. Following Devilman Crybaby, their second true anime original (in that it didn't premiere on Japanese TV first) is B: The Beginning. Netflix Japan have just released a new trailer, which (oddly enough) shows off the English language version of the series.
Coming from the acclaimed studio Production I.G (best known for their involvement with the Ghost In The Shell franchise) the series was originally titled as Perfect Bones. The series seems to be a thriller set in a sci-fi world, with a technologically advanced city terrorised by a serial killer known as Killer B. The series will feature a wide variety of characters including "mysterious boy" Koku, and "legendary detective"... Keith.
The animation looks slick, as you would expect from I.G. And while we're not too sure what to expect for the plot, this looks like it's definitely in the vein of the kind of anime that tends to be popular with western audiences. The idea of following a "wide variety of characters" is intriguing too- could this have similarities with Satoshi Kon's classic Paranoia Agent? Perhaps the serial killer angle is just an excuse to explore all these characters? Or is it more of a straight up serial-killer-thriller?
Either way, we don't have to wait long to find out! B: The Beginning will be available on Netflix worldwide on March 2, 2018.
In a world powered by advanced technology, crime and action unfold in the archipelagic nation of Cremona. Koku, the protagonist. Keith, the legendary investigator of the royal police force RIS. A mysterious criminal organization. A wide variety of characters race through the fortified city as it is beset by the serial killer, Killer B, and a chain of crimes in this suspense drama by director Kazuto Nakazawa and Production I.G.
