New York International Children's Film Festival Features 'Lu Over The Wall', 'Big Bad Fox' 'Zombillenium' And More
The New York International Children's Film Festival is an event always worth keeping an eye on- whether you've got kids or not. Sharing a founder with GKIDS Films, and acting as an Academy Award Qualifying festival, it always boasts an impressive line-up of animation. And this year's festival is about to kick off!
The festival runs this year from February 23 to March 18. From Japan, Masaaki Yuasa's Lu Over The Wall will be this year's opening film. There will also be a chance to see Chinese animated feature Big Fish & Begonia well in advance of April's cinema release. There will be a number of French-produced (and co-produced) features including The Big Bad Fox & Other Tales, White Fang, and Zombillenium. From Denmark comes the East Coast Premiere of Next Door Spy. There will also be a rare screening of early Isao Takahata feature, 1968's Horus, Prince Of The Sun (aka The Little Norse Prince).
Beyond the features, there will be an impressive line-up of shorts, including the New York Premiere of the Annie Award and BAFTA-winning Poles Apart. The shorts will screen as part of several programs, alongside live-action shorts. There are also VR experiences including Jorge Gutierrez's Son of Jaguar and Wolves In The Walls (based on a book by Neil Gaiman).
