'Coco' Picks Up Four VES Awards
In the annual awards circuit, the VES Awards - The Visual Effects Society awards are unique. Rather than celebrate films or television for their storytelling or artistry, they are designed to celebrate the latest and greatest in the field of visual effects, and nothing else.
This year's VES Awards took place on February 13. The ceremony includes four awards dedicated specifically to animated films, and Pixar's Coco swept the board. The film won Oustanding Effects In An Animated Feature, Oustanding Character In An Animated Feature, Oustanding Created Environments In An Animated Feature and Outstanding Effects Simulation In An Animated Feature.
In the Photoreal Feature Categories War For The Planet Of The Apes dominated, taking home four awards. Blade Runner 2049 picked up two awards, while Dunkirk and Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2 won one each.
In television, Game Of Thrones was the big winner, taking home five trophies. Assassin's Creed Origins won for Best Effects in the "Real Time" category.
