AFA Podcast 97: Devilman Crybaby (or "Ryo is like a Bad Paddington")
Ever since it's release on Netflix in early January, Masaaki Yuasa anime adaptation of Go Nagai's Devilman has taken the anime community by storm. Some are in awe, some are horrified, and some somewhere in between. With a show that runs such a huge gambit of adult content: sex, violence, and religious symbolism, Team AFA decides to undertake an in-depth discussion of the original source material, a few previous adaptations and of course, Devilman Crybaby in its entirety.
We begin the discussion with an overview of the 45th Annie Awards (1:27), including winners nominees and event detail for those who missed out. Then we get right into the nitty gritty as Gino provides some insight on the original Devilman manga and its creator Go Nagai (25:20). Then we get to talking about Devilman Crybaby with each of us sharing our different experiences with the show (41:24). Expect HUGE amounts of spoilers from (59:00) on.
