GKIDS Acquire Three Features From Masaaki Yuasa
GKIDS Films have started off 2018 as they mean to go on- by announcing even more exciting animation coming to cinemas. The US distributor has announced that they will release three feature films from the acclaimed Masaaki Yuasa during the coming year.
Yuasa has had an incredible last year twelve months, releasing two feature films and completing the series Devilman Crybaby (on Netflix from January 5). GKIDS will release both films- Lu Over The Wall and Night Is Short, Walk On Girl- alongside his 2004 feature debut Mind Game. GKIDS will release all three films in North American Cinemas in Japanese with subtitles, but will also be producing a dub for Lu Over The Wall, premiering at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The two new films screened theatrically in the UK during 2017 via Anime Limited, but this will be the first chance for US and Canadian audiences to catch them outside of festival or convention screenings.
Mind Game will release in February, with Lu Over The Wall arriving in Spring, and Night Is Short arriving later in the year.
GKIDS president Dave Jesteadt says, "GKIDS is incredibly excited to be bringing these three films to Yuasa fans in North America. And for those who have not yet had the pleasure of experiencing the indelible creative brilliance that is Masaaki Yuasa, you are in for an incredible treat."
