'Bilal: A New Breed Of Hero' US Trailer Arrives
Bilal: A New Breed Of Hero is the first ever CG animated feature made in the Middle-East. The film arrives in the US and Canada, after it made its debut at the Dubai International Film Festival back in 2015, and having screened across the Middle-East during 2016.
The film is set a thousand years ago, and inspired by the true story of Bilal ibn Rabah, an African slave turned hero, who "finds the courage to raise his voice and make a change." Directed by Khurram H. Alavi and Ayman Jamal, the trailer shows off the film's excellent character design and animation and some impressive looking set-pieces.
Animated features are still overwhelmingly dominated by the experiences of (mainly white) Americans, so a film told from such a different perspective is a refreshing change. Also setting it apart from most animated features is the fact that it's been given a PG-13 rating from the MPAA "for violence/warfare and some thematic elements". The English voice cast is lead by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Suicide Squad, Lost) and Ian McShane (Kung Fu Panda, American Gods).
Bilal: A New Breed Of Hero is produced by Barajoun Entertainment and is released by Vertical Entertainment on February 2. Check out the trailer, below.
