New Trailer Arrives For 'In This Corner Of The World'
This week Sunao Katabuchi's acclaimed In This Corner Of The World screened in competition at the Annecy Festival. To commemorate the occasion, and looking ahead to the UK release later this month, Manga UK have released a new trailer for the film.
Mai Mai Miracle director Katabuchi's film adapts the original manga by Fumiyo Kuno. Set during World War II, it follows the story of a young woman named Suzu who moves to the town of Kue, Hiroshima to be with the family of her new husband.
The new trailer gives us our best look at the film so far, and features a significant amount of dialogue for the first time. It shows us both the nostalgic look at traditional rural Japanese life and the horrors of war, hinting at the effect the conflict has on the everyday life of its citizens. With the contrast between the lush, pastel-coloured visuals and the shadow of coming events this promises to be a moving experience.
The film will have special previews in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on June 28, before a limited release on June 30. Tickets are now on sale. Shout Factory and Funimation Films will release the film in the US on August 11.
