Second 'Despicable Me 3' Trailer Arrives
This summer sees Illumination Entertainment return to their roots, with the release of Despicable Me 3. The first trailer introduced us to a new villain by the name of Balthazar Bratt (voiced by South Park's Trey Parker). Yet, while the threequel is set to pit Gru (voiced again by Steve Carell) against this new baddie, it seems that this may not be the main focus of the film. The second trailer reveals a whole new side to the plot- that revolves around Gru's twin brother, Dru.
You may not have known Gru had a twin- but that's understandable, because neither did he. After being booted out of the Anti-Villain League for letting Bratt get away, Gru is contacted by the brother he never knew he had. Dru (also played by Carrell) is identical to our hero- except for the fact that he has a full head of hair. Based on what we see here, he also seems to be rather rich- just check out the size of his mansion. The only problem is.. he's determined to tempt Gru back into the villain game,
The first trailer was noticeably light on Minions. This time around they are a bit more prominent- but it's still clear that this is very much Gru's story, and not just another Minions movie.
Despicable Me 3 is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda (veterans of the 2015 Minions movie), with Eric Guillon credited as co-director. Guillon worked as a character designer on all of Illumination's previous movies, but this will be his directorial debut. It will be released in cinemas on 30th June 2017, both in the US and UK.
