Anime Limited Bringing 'Napping Princess' To UK and Ireland
2017 is proving to be an unprecedented year for anime in cinemas in the UK and Ireland. Thanks to Anime Limited and Manga Entertainment/Animatsu more Japanese feature animation is hitting multiplexes and independents than ever before. This year alone has seen (or will see) theatrical releases for A Silent Voice, Yu-Gi-Oh, Ghost In The Shell (re-release), Sword Art Online: The Movie, and In This Corner Of The World. Now, Anime Limited have added another title to the growing list: Napping Princess -or Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari in the original Japanese.
Also occasionally known as Ancien and The Magic Tablet, it comes from acclaimed director Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden Of The East).
Described as a "fender and genre-bending" tale, it features a young lady named Kokone who has trouble staying awake while studying. While she snoozes, she experiences vivid dreams of warring machines "that hint at family secrets that have been dormant for years". What is the truth behind these strange visions? We'll have to see the film to find out!
Release details are thin on the ground right now: the release is set for "Summer 2017" and the film will be screening in its original language version with subtitles. Other details will be forthcoming nearer the time.
Look to Anime Limited's releases of Your Name and A Silent Voice as an indicator of what to expect. If your local cinema got either (or both) of those releases, then your chances are high that this could play in your area too.
