Web AAARGH-nimation Watch: Halloween Special

The internet has made it easier than ever for animators to put their stuff out there. But with so much material out there, how are you to know what's worth your precious time? That's where we come in.. welcome back to Web Animation Watch!

We've come over all creepy and kooky this week... it's time for our Halloween special! Don't have nightmares!

Leigh Lahav AKA OnlyLeigh brings us.. er, a Christmas themed animation for Halloween. If that sounds a bit odd, that's because it is.. but it's genius too. This short is a mash-up of A Charlie Brown Christmas and the Netflix horror show Stranger Things (which is where the Halloween angle comes in). This is a pitch-perfect recreation of the old Charlie Brown specials, with lots of in-jokes for Stranger Things fans.

Mr Weebl returns with a spooky spin on his perennial favourite Amazing Horse.. titled- you guessed it- Amazing Hearse. Featuring zombie hordes and shaking things up with a Pixel-art style, it's another winner from Weebl's crew! "Shut up Zombie, get off my hearse!"




How about something just a bit more serious now?  Isolated is a wonderfully creepy CG short that offers an effective twist on the zombie genre. This boasts some impressive animation and some genuinely unnerving moments. Unlike much zombie material, this favours creeping dread and atmospheric chills over gore- and is all the better for it.




If you need something a little lighter after that, Simon's Cat won't let you down! In this Halloween special, Simon's Cat encounters a terrifying monster! Although from a human perspective... it's just a vacuum cleaner.
