[Updated] LeSean Thomas Reveals 'Children of Ether' Original Anime
This year's New York Comic Con kicked off on Thursday, October 6th, and a number of industry panels have already taken place. Among these was the anime streaming service Crunchyroll, who revealed a number of series that would be coming to the service. For the most part, these were upcoming anime series that will air as part of the new season. However, in a very exciting and unexpected development, it was revealed they would be co-producing a new series from Cannon Busters creator LeSean Thomas.
The following video was posted online (via Caroline Espi on Twitter) that introduces the show.
Thomas is working with character designer Hiroshi Shimizu- designer and chief animator on Michiko & Hatchin, and writer Nicholas Thurkettle on the project, which will stream on Crunchyroll.
Animation will be handled by French/Japanese studio Yapiko (who previously worked on Urbanance). Thomas will direct, and the music will be written and performed by British musician Mr Hudson. American comic book artist Ronald Wimberly contributed early concept art to the project.

Children of Ether follows Rhonda, a woman with a dark past and a mysterious power, as she is pursued by an unknown assailant after the death of her father. Aided only by her wits and a pair of orphans, Rhonda journeys through a decaying, dystopian metropolis populated by raiders, gangs, and the supernatural. As she struggles to survive in this harsh urban tangle, she meets both friends and enemies, and searches for answers about this power, "The Ether", awakening within her.
