Web Animation Watch: 'Undertale', 'After Us', 'Ink' and more
The internet has done great things for animation. It's made it easier for animators to get their work out there than ever before. But with so much stuff out there, how are you supposed to know what's worth watching? Then welcome to another installment of AFA's Web Animation Watch.

Ever since it's release last October, the amount of fan created content for Toby Fox's Undertale has been staggering. Simply typing in the words 'Undertale' and 'Animation' will bring up hundreds of videos on Youtube alone. Shorts, music videos, parodies or let's plays all inspired by this short little game. This animated short in particular (animated by Kuwacha, with music composition and sound effects provided by amella), chronicles the entire Undertale story (both Pacifist and Genocide routes) and does an amazing job at capturing the more iconic scenes of the game. Despite the massive amount of spoilers, for those who haven't had a chance to play the game yet, the animation used for this short is too lovely not to recommend.
As I've stated in my review, the web comic Homestuck, is no stranger to animation. With numerous individuals contributing said animation to the comic. One of those many talented contributors, EmptyFeet, has animated effects in the actual comic ([S] Collide) and several fan animation projects. 'After Us' is the most recent and one of the more ambitious of EmptyFeet's projects (having taken over 3 years to complete). The short centers around the ancestors of the troll characters, and provides a look into their planet's violent history.
Much like Undertale, simply typing the words, “My Little Pony” and “Animation” will lead to a plethora of different fan works. Given the enormous size of MLP's current fandom it is to be expected, and if you look carefully there is a great deal of talent to be found. This MLP fan animation simply known as 'Ink' (created by Malathrom) is unique since it presents the basic premise of the series and it's main characters with a colorful but quiet presentation. If your a fan looking share your passion for the show (and it's creative fandom) with a more skeptical friend, 'Ink' is not a bad place to start.
If your a fan of all things Megaman (or Rockman if you prefer the character's original name), the name of ultimatemaverkicx may have popped up once or twice if you browse through Deviantart. A Digital Art hobbiest from the Phillapines, his art has primarily focused on the Megaman franchise. Though most of his work is centered around character designs, he seems to have put a great deal of work into flash animation as well. Animating relatively large scale fight sequences in the style of the in game animation or even taking a stab at more stylized animation. His most recent work, “Last Hope” is a animated rendition of a Japanese audio drama track for the Megaman Zero games. Though it is little more than two minutes long, I do appreciate the attention to detail presented here in bringing this moment of the series to life.
Even though it was meant as a April Fools joke, I'm sure many fans of the Super Smash Bros. franchise would be pleased with a animated series presented in this manner. This fan created teaser was made by AmazingArtistYellow, who has created various animated parody videos based on Super Smash Bros and other Nintendo properties. With a interesting take on a anime inspired art style and impressive editing, this two minute teaser gets you hyped for battle.
