'Voltron: Legendary Defender' Full Trailer Has Landed

With now less than a month to go until the DreamWorks Animation/Netflix reboot of Voltron arrives, the full trailer is finally here. We've got confirmation here that the characters are presented in glorious 2D, with 3DCG used for the robots and other elements. Visually this is quite a step up from past DWA TV series, with  The Legend Of Korra's studio Mir responsible for the animation. The character designs look very much in line with their earlier work, while also acknowledging the anime stylings of the original series.

Voltron: Legendary Defender will debut on Netflix worldwide on June 10th, with the initial 13 episodes. The first episode will run for an hour, with the rest of the season consisting of 22-minute episodes.

Showrunners Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery (who previously worked on Korra and Avatar) set out to bring the series up to date, not only visually but in terms of story, with the new show expected to be much more sophisticated than 1980's kids TV allowed.  Having gone back to the original source material  (Voltron was adapted from the anime series GoLion and Dairugger) they are also apparently working in some elements from that as well. If this trailer is anything to go by, this looks like it should please both newcomers and fans of the original alike.

Legendary Defender will feature the voices of  Steven Yeun, Jeremy Shada,  Tyler Labine, Bex Taylor-Klaus and Kimberly Brooks, and is written by Avatar/Korra veteran Tim Hedrick.
