Interactive 'Song Of The Sea' Exhibition Opens In Ireland

When Tomm Moore's masterpiece Song Of The Sea finally arrived in its home country of Ireland last summer, a special interactive exhibition was opened to mark the occasion. Located in Cartoon Saloon's hometown of Kilkenny, it allowed visitors to get an inside look at the production of the Oscar-nominated film. The exhibition is now set to make a return, this turn traveling to a new location.

Song Of The Sea: The Exhibition has found it's new home at the gallery space of Siamsa Tire, the National Irish folk theatre located in Tralee, County Kerry. The exhibition is designed by industrial design studio Designgoat in association with Cartoon Saloon and Butler Gallery. It aims to provide " an imaginative and accessible viewing of Cartoon Saloon’s movie-making process" and will feature original work from the film, and allow visitors to create characters of their own.

A centre-piece of the exhibition will be an illustrated timeline of the film's production from concept to the finished product. The exhibition will open on February 19th at 6pm and thereafter be open from 10am to 6pm daily. Entry is free.

Song of the Sea opened in the US in 2014 and in the UK and Ireland in 2015. Tomm Moore's second feature received numerous awards and plaudits including the Best Film at the Irish Academy Awards and many more nominations. It was also named AFA's best film of 2015.  Moore's third feature Wolfwalkers is currently in production.
