Woo-Hoo! Disney's DuckTales to Return in 2017
If you were a child of the 80's or 90's, there's a good chance you grew up on DuckTales (woo-hoo). Starting in 1987, the classic series followed Donald Duck's super-rich Uncle Scrooge, along with his grand-nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. The series is fondly remembered to this day, not least because it has one of the single most infectious theme tunes in animation history (woo-hoo).
Numerous franchises of that era have been pegged for remakes, as those who grew up on them are now old enough to have children of their own. Series such as Thundercats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, My Little Pony and Transformers have attempted comebacks with mixed results. Now to the delight of Disney-heads everywhere, DuckTales (woo-hoo!) has been announced to be joining them.
Due to air on Disney XD in 2017, the new series looks set to stay fairly faithful to the original, with characters such as Launchpad and Magica DeSpell confirmed to be appearing. The announcement follows an extremely popular update of the classic Capcom video-game by WayForward in 2013, and a warm reception for the recent reprints of the original Carl Barks comics that inspired the series.

“DuckTales’ has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults.. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”- Disney's Marc BuhajIt'll be a tricky balance to keep the spirit of the original but bring it into the current era. However, Disney's TV animation department is currently enjoying a strong reputation due to shows such as Gravity Falls- so we're not too worried. Are you excited to see DuckTales (woo-hoooo!) back on our screens? As long as they don't mess with the theme tune... Everybody sing along!
