Here Comes Trouble.. First 'Minions' Trailer Released.
The first Despicable Me movie was a pretty big hit back in 2010. However, it was last year's sequel that really exploded- in fact Despicable Me 2 was the UK's biggest film of 2013, full stop. Gru, the onetime super villain who become the unlikely adopted father to three adorable little girls may have been the nominal star. But everyone knows it was the Minions, Gru's diminutive yellow hench-things that really stole the show- in both movies.
The little guys have proved so popular that they've been given their own spin-off, (the originally titled Minions) due in summer 2015. Are they able to sustain their own movie, or are they best in small doses? Time will tell, but the offical plot synopsis reveals that their bald-headed master will still play a role in the plot to some extent. We'd take a wild guess that he will end up kidnapped (or otherwise incapacitated) and it will be down to the Minions to save the day. The first teaser though, concentrates entirely on the miniature menaces, and shows their backstory for the first time. And it's every bit as funny and endearing as you'd hope. Minions comes from directors Pierre Coffin ( a veteran of the first two films) and Kyle Balda ( co-directer of The Lorax) and will star the vocal talents of Steve Carell, Sandra Bullock and Jon Hamm, amongst others.
