"Bootleg" Animated Series Judge Dredd: Superfiend Arrives
Judge Dredd is one of the most popular characters in British comics, but he hasn't always been so well served on screen. Until the cult 2012 movie Dredd arrived, he was best known to audiences outside the United Kingdom from the notoriously bad 1995 flick starring Sylvester Stallone. A live-action sequel to the Karl Urban starring reboot is looking pretty unlikely at this point, but one of the film's producers has taken matters in his own hands. Judge Dredd Superfiend is a 100% unofficial "bootleg"six-part animated series from Dredd executive producer Adi Shankar.
Shankar claims the series was "made in the tradition of Saturday morning cartoons based on our favourite sci-fi comic book characters. The look was inspired by 90’s MTV, Ren & Stimpy, with a dash of ReBoot juxtaposed with the trademark violence found in everything I have done. "
"This was made as a thank you to you the fans for supporting Dredd and making it a cult hit." Despite its unofficial nature it's still managed to attract some well-known voice actors including Stephanie Sheh and Michelle Ruff, who will be familiar to anime fans. The series can now be seen in its entirety below.
