'Dragons: Race To the Edge' Comes To Netflix This June
DreamWorks Animation's fortunes have certainly been mixed lately. Their recent theatrical output may have been struggling (Dragons and Home aside) but the studio's Television arm has been going from strength to strength. A successful relationship with Netflix has seen them bring series based on Puss and Boots, Madagascar's King Julien and Turbo to the platform. At last weekend's Wondercon they revealed that the latest series spun off from the hugely popular How To Train Your Dragon franchise will be next.
The 13 episode Dragons: Race To The Edge will follow up from the earlier TV series Dragons: Riders Of Berk and Defenders Of Berk. The latest season will take place one year prior to the events of last summer's How To Train Your Dragon 2. Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera and others will be returning to voice the characters. The series will begin streaming in June, although it's not known if it will be all thirteen episodes, or if the release will be staggered as with earlier DWA series.
Also joining the growing DWA Netflix portfolio is original series DinoTrux. Based on an award-winning series of children's books by Chris Gall, as the name implies, it's a series set in a world inhabited by mechanical dinosaur-truck hybrids. DinoTrux will also rev up this summer.
